The SACDC contracted out Food Services in 2001. Currently, all Food Service is provided by Aramark Food Services. Food Service is staffed by contracted personnel. The staff are responsible for preparing 4,000 meals daily to both inmates and Detention Center staff.
Aramark Food Services provides an approved menu, written by a registered dietician which meets the guidelines of the American Correctional Association. All meals are based on the recommended dietary allowances and the dietary reference intakes by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine. An average of 3,000 calories is offered to each inmate per day.
The SACDC has contracted Medical Services since 1996. All Medical Services are provided by WellPath. Medical Services at the facility include; sick calls (requested by inmates), routine dental care, and chronic care. Medical staff are in house 24/7 to provide round the clock care to the inmates. The facility has a 22 bed inpatient infirmary, licensed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control, for patients requiring skilled nursing. The facility handles medication services with an in house pharmacy and is licensed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control as a Non-Dispensing Drug Outlet. The partnership between WellPath and the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center ensures that inmates have access to and receive all necessary medical care in accordance with all constitutional, federal, and state requirements as well as all standards set forth by the State of South Carolina, OSHA, and the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. The medical program at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center is currently accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.

Securus provides SACDC with innovated communication services through technological advancements. Our communications services include phone calls, video visits, and eMessaging. Tablets, along with entertainment and educational services, are also available through Securus. Securus makes it easy and convenient for friends and family of inmates to communicate.
Aramark was awarded the inmate commissary contract in May, 2021. Aramark provides all commissary services to inmates. Contracted personnel are on staff 5-days per week. Aramark also provides indigent kits to qualifying inmates upon request. Aramark has built into control measures which ensure a 99.9% fill rate. Aramark adheres to the Fair market Standard in pricing all good sold at the SACDC.
