Security Captain
This division is comprised of four teams and each team consists of a Sergeant and three detention officers. The division is overseen by the Security Lieutenant. These officers ensure the high-level security of the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center by controlling the "nerve center" of the building. The officers monitor all movement of inmates and officers throughout the facility, utilizing approximately 700 cameras and operating all security systems.
The Lobby is comprised of four teams with two detention officers per team. Two additional detention officers are assigned to the Lobby Information position. The officers greet the public on a constant basis and address any inquires or concerns the public might have. This could extend from just answering questions, to assisting with visitation, or handling requests for fingerprinting or copies of inmate mug shots. They also process all incoming correspondence and searching of any incoming boxes or packages.
This office consists of two (2) officers. These officers are responsible for the subjects who are arrested and then released after being seen by a Bond Judge. This is called a "Print and Release". In addition to this responsibility, the officers verify all the information, photographs and fingerprints of the inmates coming into the facility to ensure the quality before the information is sent to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). These officers also assist agencies in receiving pertinent information of inmates in a timely manner.
The twenty-two bed infirmary is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and has 24/7 inmate care provided by Wellpath.
The SACDC has a state of the art laundry facility which is overseen by a laundry officer. This officer supervises a group of inmate workers who are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of all uniforms and linen that are provided to the inmates.
Logistics is responsible for Detention acquisition, distribution, maintenance and tracking of capital equipment and consumables. Logistics is committed to improving the efficiency of allocating supplies and monitoring uses while meeting the supply needs of the Detention Center.
The Environmental Division is staffed by four Detention Officers and supervised by the Logistics Sergeant. The Environmental staff is responsible for supervising a group of inmate workers who are responsible for the sanitation of the entire facility, distributing supplies throughout the facility, the cleanliness of all common areas and small repairs. The Environmental division is steadfast in their pursuit to improve the cleanliness of the Detention Center. Their mission is to provide a sanitary, healthy working and living environment for all.
