Notice To Employers
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office recognizes that making deputies available to private employers for security purposes provides an additional level of crime prevention, a reduction in calls for service and relationship development within our community. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office proudly serves the citizens, businesses, and organizations within Charleston County by providing professional law enforcement services at an affordable hourly rate.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office works thousands of hours of extra duty each year. Some of the jobs are recurring and some of the jobs are single events. Through May 31, 2024, our agency is utilizing Extra Duty Solutions for the management and assignment of the extra duty program. Starting June 1, 2024, we are switching to Off-Duty Management. Over the past several months, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has conducted extensive research regarding a fair and equitable rate. Based on the findings, we will be implementing an hourly rate increase for extra duty services. We will be implementing the increase on February 1, 2024. Please see below for the hourly rates.
Effective June 1, 2024
In order to efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty deputies, The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Off Duty Management to provide services related to hiring off-duty deputies effective June 1st, 2024.
You may request to hire off-duty deputies through the Off Duty Management web-based service, OfficerTRAK®, or calling the toll-free number below.
Off Duty Management provides the following to the vendor:
- Online access to information through the OfficerTRAK® software including:
- Job-status
- Deputy attendance
- Field notes and media files
- Post orders and instructions
- Past and future shift information
- Full liability coverage for the vendor, the agency, and the deputy
- 24/7 vendor service through their toll-free number
- Dedicated point of contact for scheduling and invoicing, and payroll.

SUPERVISOR RATE*: A supervisor is needed when 4 or more deputies are requested.
HOLIDAY RATE**: The holiday rate will apply to the following days: New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Day after Christmas.
Cancellation policy: Customer cancelling or reducing an assignment within 24 hours of the start of the assignment shall pay the greater of officer hours worked or the agency minimum hours plus ODM administrative fees.
